I hope 2013 was as good to you as it was to me. Here’s to a beautiful 2014!
Please remember, everyone, use the resources available to you to avoid drinking and driving. DUIs in Los Angeles down run you about $15,000, and it doesn’t take much to crest the .08 BAC. Stay safe and keep your car parked. Embrace all the transit options available to you!
- “Tipsy Tow” is being provided by AAA. Call 1-800-222-4357 for a free ride for yourself and tow for your car. You don’t need to be a AAA member to take advantage of this!
- The Metro will be providing free fares tonight from 9pm – 2 am. All Metro rail lines and the Orange Line will be running all night, every 20 minutes.
- Cabs aren’t cheap in LA, but they are still cheaper than a DUI and (usually) safer than driving tipsy.
- Lyft! On popular party days, the pink mustache guys are often pretty booked, but they are cheaper and more fun than a cab.
For NYE, I won tickets to this incredible black tie event at the Bungalow in Santa Monica, complete with hosted bar. I don’t even want to worry about my friend or I getting behind the wheel and unfortunately, the West Side is the part of the LA Basin that is pretty isolated from transit. We decided we are going to Lyft it there and back, if available. If not, then a yellow cab it is. We could take the 20 all the way there, which is a 24-hour bus line, but it would take half our night to get to the beach. Since we aren’t paying for the event, it seems like a $50 cab ride each way is worth it.
Be safe, be happy, and have fun. Happy 2014 everyone!
