Halloween and Dia de los Muertos Weekend: Part Two

Last Saturday, I attended La Cita’s Dia de los Muertos party, art show, and birthday celebration of my friend, Alicia. What a great time! Local artists were on hand painting faces, as well as showing off their creations. The crowd was great, and fun times had by all. Check out the good times we had.

Halloween and Dia de los Muertos Weekend: Part one

Halloween weekend is great.  I love putting on costumes or face paint and having fun.  This year, Halloween landed on a Friday with Dia de Los Muertos celebrations throughout the weekend.  Los Angeles does it right. This week, I will be posting three blogs about each day of the weekend I had filled with celebration.  […]

On September 16th, a new law will go into effect that requires motorists to give a minimum of three feet of space when passing a bicyclist.  If no space is available, the driver must slow down and pass when the coast is clear.  The previous law required motor vehicles to keep a “safe distance.”  Fines […]

Cycling to the Emmys

One of my favorite events is coming up–BUSted! Scott Schultz, storytelling wizard and friend of Hoff the Beaten Path, produces and hosts the evening filled with tales of getting around LA without a car. While most of the storytellers focus on bus and metro stories, this month is featuring a one from the Los Angeles […]

The Los Angeles Explorers Club: Bicycle Journeys into LA’s Forgotten Times – This Sunday in DTLA

There are few things in this world that give me joy so great as bike ride to the hidden corners of the city. And beer. Beer gives me great joy too. This Sunday, the Los Angeles Explorers Club has partnered with New Belgium Brewery and bike advocacy nonprofit C.I.C.L.E. for their inaugural bike ride through […]

The Return of Echo Park’s Lotus Festival

This weekend saw the return of one of Echo Park’s most treasured traditions: the Lotus Festival. July 12th and July 13th saw the first Lotus Festival in three years due to the clean-up of Echo Park Lake. I took a bus trip there on Sunday to check it out. The Lotus Festival is a two-part […]
