Bike Week LA 2015

Today officially kicks off the 2015 edition of Bike Week LA.  The week will see events all throughout Los Angeles that promote biking as a form of transportation, and raises awareness about bicycle and pedestrian safety.

No matter in which side of town you live, there are events near you.  There are a ton of Metro-sponsored events, and you can see a full list here at their website.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Monday, 5/11: Is Bicycling in Your Future?  Hear panelists from several organizations discuss the pros and cons to commuting on two wheels.  The panel discussion will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Caltrans District 7 at 100 S. Main St.

Wednesday, 5/13: Bike-In Movie  Ride to Marsh Park along the LA River to catch the Bike Shorts Film Program with the theme of bike love.  Event begins at 8:00 p.m. and is co-hosted by the Ghost Bike program.

Thursday, 5/14: Bike to Work Day  Make the pledge here to bike to work on Thursday.  I did!  Cyclists can also ride Metro free of charge if they board with their bikes.  There are also pit stops and rides you can join to get you to your destination as smoothly as possible.

Thursday, 5/14: Color Wheels Art Show at CalTrans  All month long, CalTrans will be displaying some incredible bicycle-themed art at their downtown location from artists all throughout the region.  Stop by on Thursday between 6:00-9:00 for the reception and bike-related performance art.

Friday, 5/15: Bike Night at Union Station  Kick off your weekend with other members of the LA bike community and biking organizations for a night of music, food, giveaways, and more.  Last year’s event was a blast, and I expect this year’s Bike Night to be even better.  Join other cyclists on a ride to Angel City Brewery for the after party.

I hope to see you at one of these events!
