This Sunday is the next CicLAvia event, and the first in South LA. The route will connect Leimert Park to Central Ave. via Martin Luther King Blvd., and will be open only to bike, skate and pedestrian traffic. Hubs will be located along the route that include various events celebrating the neighborhood culture and will feature food trucks, bike valet and more. A schedule of events is located here. And getting to the route is easy. The Expo Line is just a few blocks north, and can be caught from downtown at the 7th Street/Metro Center station. For those who live/work/play near the CicLAvia route, the organizers made this handy-dandy guide on dealing with CicLAvia in your neighborhood in as headache-free way as possible.
I am really looking forward to this CicLAvia. I don’t really make it south of the 10 too often, so I am excited about exploring a part of the city that’s relatively new to me. I can’t wait to find my next favorite jazz club, learn about an up-and-coming local art scene, or taste the neighborhood cuisine; and there is no better way to do so than on bike.
Check out the CicLAvia website for any info on the event. I hope to see you there!
