Good news: the Los Angeles Kings have won the Stanley Cup! Not only is an LA team the best in all the land, but we can finally stop seeing our Facebook news feeds littered with hockey posts (oh wait, the NBA finals are still going on, along with the World Cup?).
On Monday, LA welcomes home the hockey champs with a victory parade through downtown. The parade route begins at 5th and Figueroa and ends at the Staples Center. The parade is expected to last up to 45 minutes.
Of course, this means road closures… in DTLA… on a Monday. Eesh, what a nightmare!
Road closures will begin at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. Figueroa will be closed from 3rd Street to Pico Blvd. Metro provides tips here on getting into DTLA via rail service to fans who want to check out the Kings’ victory parade. If you work in DTLA, I’d still suggest you take heed and avoid driving tomorrow.
Normally, I take the 16 bus to go to work. Not tomorrow! The 16 crosses Figueroa at 6th St., so I’ll wake up an extra ten minutes early to take the purple line instead. At least road closures don’t affect subways!
