I began the day expecting to get pinched, but it seems nobody else on the bus got the memo either.
So instead, I grabbed a bunch of green balloons from the theme party thrown by my job.
Lookie there, the Pershing Square fountain is green for St. Paddy’s Day! Did you know the Pershing Square Fountain is a memorial for the 1933 Long Beach earthquake, as depicted in John Fante’s ‘Ask the Dust?’ Well, you should read that book. It’s a great one–coming of age tale wrapped up in LA history. That’s as good as it gets, in my opinion. Glad that today’s earthquake was mild enough that we won’t be having a 2014 Westwood memorial.
I can’t forget the real reason for the season: it’s my mom’s birthday! Happy birthday, mom. The entire bar at happy hour threw one back in your honor.
